Well after finishing my two page layout, i was looking over all my pictures making sure i chose the correct ones to fit my magazine and as I was looking over my collection of photos, I decided that I had more options that I wanted to share. So, I created two more pages that serve as a display for the pictures, kind of like a portfolio that are typically done in art magazines. For example, Dance Lifestyle Magazine issues several pages dedicated to a specific dancer showcasing one photo per page. I left a caption at the bottom labeling who the photo is of and who it is by. Since this is technically an art magazine its wise to display the art, why not do it as clear and specific as you can? My choice of photos was one jump shot and one pose,the two compliment the dancer but also the photographer. These are probabley my favorite pages becuase the photos to me are so beautiful and I'm truly pleased with the idea of them being the focal point of a page. So here they are below. ...

YAY! I finished my two page layout and it definitely wasn't as difficult as the table of contents. I skimmed through several different layout templates on Canva and chose all the ones I admired. After that I plugged in my photos and kept only the pages that looked good and gave me something to work with. The two page layout is a part of a three page article that is an interview of the dancer in my photos. I included a right-sided third page that is the beginning of the article with the title and then two following pages that continue the article. The two following pages are the two page layout were I kept the background neat and simple, white, and kept the text colors green and black. Green for questions and quotes, while black was for answers. The only problem I had was that the two page layout when put side my side it doesn't look as symmetrical as I'd like it to, so I'm going to have to go back and rearrange some things in order for this magazine to be truly complete...

   So as I said in by past "Table of Contents" blog, I wasn't really satisfied with the table of contents I originally came up with. The colors were too bright and juvenile while the cover of the magazine was vibrant with natural colors and more mature. I made another table of contents that fit what I was looking for, but its still wasn't doing it for me. So as I took the time to think it over I decided to start from scratch for the third time.A friend of mine guided me to a magazine website called Issuu  where I found an assortment of dance magazine examples. A magazine called Dance LifeStyle was the prime example of my magazine it had everything I already mentioned I want my magazine to contain,the interviews with a dancer, the must haves, and photography portfolios.     So due to time and wanting to play it safe I've decided to focus StageLife's purpose on the performing arts but since time goes by fast and people have busy schedules I won't be able to add any other aspects to this magazine that don't revolve around dance itself. So I've decided it would just be wise to have the magazine be all dance, no acting or singing. I went back to my past blogs and found what I've previously said the magazines purpose was and I have chosen to take this blog to establish and reiterate it. For example,  I once said "so my magazine's purpose is to strengthen the interest of those who dance, sing, and act." This statement is still true but subtract the sing and act part, the magazines primary focus is dance. This is still about the performing arts but more specific, it's dedicated to dance. Future issues may be about musicals since plenty of dancers are involved in that industry. The point I'm trying to get across i...

  WOW! This was frustrating. I finished my table of contents for now, I'm truly not sure how I feel about it. I look at it and I'm like "well that's nice, but it could be better." I have know no more ideas left to fix it, it feels like my creativity for that page has run dry. Since this is an art magazine the layout and detail must be simple and focused on the art. The photos need to be the center of attention and everything around it can't overshadow them. But I also don't want the page to look too simple whereas its not professional enough. So I've decided to leave it be and come back to it later when my juices are flowing properly.   To describe how I designed the page, I took three photos from the same setting and aligned them atop one another on the left side of the page.    WOW! Today was a fun day (: In class, I discussed with my peers about my past blog where I was debating over the choice for the cover photo. They shared with me their opinions and I started getting a move on the magazine cover. At first I planned to use Joomag.com  but my peers suggested another design website called Canva . It took me a while to master the style I was going for, but in the end I came out with a final product for my Magazine Cover. Within an hour and a half I changed photos, rearranged title placement, sorted through a variety of fonts and distinguished my text color through every shade of white I could. The final product has a simplistic design with a Voga font displaying the title and a small subheading establishing the month and year of the magazines issue (April 2017.) The colors of the cover are relevant to the time of the month, spring, keeping it green, white and light pink but also vibrant to stand out to the audience. The picture is a beautifu...

   Now that I don't have to worry about the photos anymore, because I have plenty, I can focus on the writing aspect. I've never considered being a writer or a journalist, actually to be honest I've never been good at it. When I was younger I think my mom and mom-mom (grandma) really wanted me to be one when they read a short story I wrote that was the exact synopsis of the 1977 film Pete's Dragon.  But I've always opposed writing, claiming it hurt my hand to much and drained my creativity. When it comes down to it though, it's because I'm just truly no good at it. I write poorly, my essays in every class have only ever been average. Only once in seventh grade did I ever write an essay that exceeded even my own expectations. It was for my science class, Mrs.Blumberg, we had to write a fictional story for a type of spider including actual facts and information.   After the photo shoot, I looked over each and every photo and was very pleased with the outcomes. It's going to be a difficult process trying to skim them down. But I'd first like to start off with the ones that stick out in my head the most and which one I'd like to make the cover photo.   The cover photo is important, it needs to draw attention and represent the magazine. I want it to be beautiful and I've got some of the perfect photos for the trick. So in this blog i will talk it out, vent my opinions and we will see if it gets me anywhere later. Cover Photo #1:  I love the action within this photo, its a jump in mid air with a beautiful scenery in the background.  The action brings in an enticing aspect to the magazine making readers look at it and think "Wow! what a cool pic of that girl jumping like a beautiful being!"  Sadly though I see this picture to be way to good for the cover, maybe that's just my opinion, but I see it as spoile...

   Last Wednesday I helped my best friend with the filming of her project, she also is taking AICE Media Studies. Although she was very disorganized and stressed me out to the max, she helped get the ball rolling with my photography ideas. So yesterday, I did my photo shoot and it went really well. I made a plan with my friend Izzy and we gathered up all the materials we needed. I had my camera bag packed, with extra memory cards, the charger, a mini camera stand, a full size camera stand, and water bottles. I was like a soccer mom prepared to film each time her kid touched the ball. I was beyond excited, I got her house we discussed costumes, locations, and hair/makeup. I wanted everything to be top-notch.   At first we settled on Wynwood Walls as our location but as I got to thinking, it's pretty generic and there's probably some sort of festival in Miami. So we parted from the idea and thought of another artistic modern location such as Fat Village in Ft. Lauderdale. ...

   So I've already created an account at Joomag , and established my title and genre. I've recently set up a date for a photo shoot this upcoming week with my friend who has been dancing her whole life and hopes to pursue it. But now I've decided it would be a wise idea to give you a little background information. For as long as I could remember I've been a dramatic kid, my family always thought I would end up in the performing arts. Movie musicals like The Sound of Music, Grease, The Phantom of the Opera, and  Funny Girl were what I lived for. By the time I was in middle school I joined a studio and participated in musicals. I became a dancer and joined a competition team, I got to compete at a variety of competitions all they way up to nationals.   StageLife.  I've named my magazine, WOW! super exciting. It's simple but specfic and exactly what I imagined. It brings all the little things I wanted for the title into account. For example: 1. I wanted the title to have a nice ring to it, like "I can't wait for the new issue of StageLife!" 2. I wanted it to sound good with the word "magazine" following after it. (StageLife Magazine) 3. I wanted it to be able to represent the performing arts without being to specific to one art form. 4. I wanted it also to represent the social and personal aspect of the arts.  By combining the words stage and life, you get everything I just listed above.   Well, today's the day where I examine my research and my target audience and how to attract them. The definition of a magazine is a publication periodically published with a variety of content. I've established what my content of my magazine will be, a performing arts magazine. My magazine will be the artisitc take on the beauty of the performing arts. With information on local shows, events, and stories of those who participate in the arts.   My target audience will be a young demographic, leaning towards kids from ages around 10-18 years old. Kids who pursue acting, theatre, dancing, and music will have a product that gives them stories of people who have grown up in the same industry. People whose stories can help them discover more about their hobby. Also the magazine will tell them about events such as acting and dancing workshops, shows with reviews so that no matter how you live you can have a inside look into the arts. Bonjour! So after doing some research i've gathered up some material to base my magazine off of. Magazines like Danza Europa , Playbill , and American Theatre,  where they document beautiful photos of the performing arts while also providing information on theatre/dance trends and events.These magazines showcase exactly what I want to do with my magazine, I want to bring forth information while also provinding artistic and asthetic visuals that will really inspire others.     My next step is to create a schedule:  1. I will start thinking of my main article 2. From there, I will write it (obviously) and also think of photos for it  3. Create a shooting schedule based on my participants 4. Put everything together  When I return I shall have article ideas and a magazine layout. My scheduling will be more precised and the train will leave the station, so for now i'm blogging off.  JT. 

    Hola! So i've come to my final conclusion. I will be creating a performing arts magazine. TA-DA!  I already have found a few dancers who are willing to let me photograph them, and I'm sure my old studio will be pleased to hear that i've taken interest in documenting their shows. I'm really excited to begin this process, so i'd like to first start out with a outline of the main things I need to get done first for the magazine. At this point in time my first step is to decide on a magazine genre. Well there are major factors that play a role in this decision so how about we consider them: Factors in deciding on Magazine Genre:  - Intriguing genre - I have to be passionate about it - Ideal photos have to be attainable - Not easy, but most definitely not difficult; a good CHALLENGE!
